Conflicting Messages

Thursday, February 2nd, 2006

So yeah, Christians, misunderstood? or simply the process of 2000 years of unchanging belief based on a book that was written by the “3rd person observer society”. Whatever they might be, they’re never going to have conflicting beliefs, oh no. So when i found that some rather horny christians had set up an online sex shop named “Wholly Love” i had to check something.
I do belive that religious types are against contraception, now i’m not one to really have a go at religion (hahaha, yeah right) but when i found that the Wholly Love site has just that for sale i was a bit confused. Do only SOME people do the NO CONTRACEPTION thing, or are

Trans-dimensional-hyper-folding

I found the Ninja Shirt folding technique to be invaluable when packing for christmas, its supreme ninja powers with added Kung Foo flipping to bags provided me with endless fun and in a short time i was able to continue my regular training (Ie, sitting doing nowt) However, never to be outdone, the geeks of the land have outsmarted the humble shirt with yet another technique. This method is not quite as ninja, however its awsome mechanical genius is a testiment to the inovativeness of common geek kind.
Gentlemen and Lady i provide you with the TShirt folding machine, not only does it demonstration the system it comes with labeled diagrams regarding how to construct

Geeks + Duct Tape = …?

Saturday, January 28th, 2006

Picture the scene, its a LAN party and there isnt room to sit. How can you solve this problem? Well, as many geeks will know, most Lans are usualy filled with inventive types who will sacrifice much to play their games. And so, with a roll of duct tape, sensible positioning of cusions and a convinient Steel Girder the solution was found.

Why use the floor to sit upon, when u can be taped to the underside of a girder and play the games with your computer ontop of a cabinet. Its genius, the only problems i have is that ur neck would probably compain quite quickly and so i’d prefer to have my head strapped

City Creator

Found this awsome little site that lets you basicaly create your own Pixel art citys with a nice easy drag drop interface. its a bit buggy at times unfortunatly, but its stil very cool. You have 3 city types to choose from, and use drag and drop pieces from the palettes on the left onto the space on the right. Its really that simple :) youve got some People to put in, or roofs, roads and scenery changes, its hardly extensive, but the fact its so fast and cool makes up for that problem. :)
Ive tried to make a nice little town, but it keeps loosing my buildings and i cant click them again.

Power of Dreams

Friday, January 20th, 2006

Honda have always been at the front with their TV commercials, they are quirky, brilliantly written storys opposed to the cold hard facts most car adverts try. The Gears commercial was done in the real world by 2 people and a camcorder over a week with a ridiculous 606 takes. Often Honda make adverts that just work for brand reinforcement, the recent “Imposible Dream” is just a nice advert for Honda corp, as is the “Hate” ad, with flying Diesel engines :)
But i digress…
I recently found the latest commercial for the Honda Civic, and once again they stick to their well known formulars of great advertising. This time, rather than showing a car

Scanography

Thursday, January 19th, 2006

Ok, so when i said it was a slow month, i missed this site, its a guy who has hacked apart a regular desktop scanner and turned it into a camera. Cool you might think, but the fantastic part is when he takes images of moving objects. Because of the way the scanner head moves across the image takes time, the object its taking images of can move. Better explained here [M]. The outcome of all this is some very cool looking pictures of moving traffic where the cars have been squashed to be about a foot long but still have all the detail you’d expect, its a very strange effect.

Bloggery-yo-yo

Howdy Fellow Geeks,
i bring forth news of nothing what so ever. ive been keeping an eye on the internet for interesting things to blog about, but alas it has not been forthcoming of late. bit of a slow month in all fairness, the closest i goto was the Voodoo Knife Rack, Parking meter lollipops, or possibly to proove there are greater geeks than i, a musical dot matrix printer.
In other news, i started my exam period with Compilers, which was actually a enjoyable exam. I had a good knowledge of the content and so the questions were simple to answer, the only tricky bits were logical problems of application more than recolection, like playing Sudoku, u

Yay 4 Hoaxes

Monday, December 19th, 2005

Just been watching Sky and was watching “Hoax Files” and was laughing all the way through it. But my favourite is a hoax made by one of the largest organisations around. The year was 1957, the date, the notorious 1st of April, the culprit, the BBC. Thats right, the beeb broadcast an episode of Panorama, highly respected documentary show, with an article about how the mild winters of 1956 had lead to a bumper havest of spaghetti in the swiss farms.
Fantastically, a huge number of viewers were taken in, and many called up wanting to know how they could grow their own spaghetti trees. To which the BBC diplomatically replied that they should “place
