Hysteria

Radiation

Found on the register, this is rather alarmingly hysterical advert from greenpeace about the danger of a terrorist attack on the growing number of nuclear power plants being constructed in the world. Now while i concur that if a boeing 747 was indeed crashed directly into a plant odds are it would probably cause quite a bit of damage. But just how much? The reactor wouldnt go critical as the whole system is inherantly safe in modern (post Chinobol) reactors, there’d probably be radioactive dust and so forth, but i cant help feeling that if a plane was hijacked these days it would be shot down way before it got close to a

Playing with Planets

Friday, January 13th, 2006

Hokay, so i havent blogged in a while, and for this i appologise, however, to make upfor it i have been doing constructive things, i have added a Style switcher to the Planet, its basically to stop James complaining at me about overlined links which he hates oh so much. I decided that rather than trying to convince him to make his own damn CSS and be happy i’d make it so everyone could be happy with their own styles. And hence, the style switcher was born.
Goto our Planet and check it out on the right, and for all the geeks in the area, if you want to add your own style to the

Ok, so its been a while since i bloged, and in a break from tradition i’m going to say what ive actually been doing of late. After getting quite drunk last friday night at Solus i had to manage a slight hangover to get home to mums house to look after cats on my way to going to the Isle of Wight. Got up midday sat and went shopping for mams xmas pressie, missed two trains home which was a bugger, ended up sitting on the platform for 45 mins reading the Second Magicians Guild book - The Novice its very good. But i was frozen by the time an anouncment came saying my train was on a diff

Planet Comscare - Updated

Monday, December 12th, 2005

Ok, i just realised that most people probably dont even know this exists yet. So just in case i’ll warn thee all.
No longer do u have to check +5 blogs to see if anyone has posted, nor use clever software to tell you, for neil has setup a Planet for us to use. I tried making my own RSS aggregator, and it worked real nice as well, apart from James dates causing problems. But now, after coaxing james to actually fix his damn code, we have a working planet.
CS Blog Planet planet.warmfusion.co.uk
Hurrah for us.
Update: Since setting up the planet, neil realised that he’d have to turn off the machine it

Hotlinkers Get Their Dues

Wednesday, December 7th, 2005

Floating aroudn the interweb as i do so well, i rolled over onto a site demonstrating what happens to hotlinkers on websites.
For people out of the loop: Hotlinking is where a website on one domain, g www.warmfusion.co.uk directly links to an image from another domain, www.bbc.co.uk without any reference to that other site. While this doesnt sound too bad, the other site is paying for the data transfer for that image without any return of visitors etc. Also there are copyright issues, but often not severe ones.
So yeah, this site decided that rather than just blocking the images for remote sites (which is easy) they’d replace them with something funnier. Often people link to images directly on forums etc

Boosh-Layout Magic

Sunday, November 20th, 2005

Hey hey hey, me and ben were talking about making our next site (modeling agency one) able to change its layout based on the size of the users screen resolution. Ie, small res = layout with main pic and one sidebar, larger screens can have two sidebars (one on each side) and HUGE resolutions can have multiple main pics etc. So today, ben shows me an awsome demonstration of this principle, and its simple, just ahve multiple CSS styles which get switched about by resize events in javascript. One swift recode of the CSS and boosh, ive got it running on my site.
Check it out, resize the blog window to something a bit smaller and

Slow Blogging Day

Saturday, November 19th, 2005

Hey, No blogs of crazyness today, been very busy working with ben on new design drafts for Face Model Managment, a prospective client of Web Dragon. Ive been designing a logo for them to use for the past few hours, and i’ve got a few that i quite like. I’m not sure if i should show you them on here yet, the copyright is mine, but its still a bit of a grey area for draft works.
We have a good idea for the basic site layouts etc and we’re basically waiting for me to finish my logo :) but me and ben have been working on managment systems in order to make sure

The Movies

Monday, November 14th, 2005

Hello to any Lionhead staff reading my blog :) I was so impresesd with their newest game (The Movies) i decided to tell them with a little email. I didnt think much more about it untill i was having a look through my website stats and found a few referals from the lionhead internal email system hehe. Web based mail has a few interesting side effects like that. Its not a security risk or anything, but its interesting to see that at least three people have seen my little email now and were interested in my website.
So heres to these three:
J. Cottier, A Evans, and Matthew Wiggins
Hurrah for you :D
I’m wondering if they’ve
