Doogle

Again with the Irish connection, its nothing personal linzi, its just such a hillariously silly country. Along with France one of the few countries i think of often as being worthy of discussion, albeit for reasons such as potatoes, drink and father ted. So when i found a search engine dedicated to the Irish i had to investigate, and with links such as Feck, Drink, Arse, Girls and Eurovision and the I’m Feeling Lucky replaced with “I’m Feeling Bolloxed” i had to give it a whirl.

Just so you know

Tuesday, November 22nd, 2005

Bare in mind this is french but has been handily translated for your needs.
The Fatal Consequences of Masturbation: a cautionary, illustrated page from a mid-19th-century French book with no name. It describes in vivid detail the woes and tormet that may beset the wandering lonley palm of a 17 yr old boy. What it says about 20/21 yr olds isnt mentioned so i assume we’re all safe now boys (and maybe girls ).

Politicaly Correct

Monday, November 21st, 2005

Not to be met with “Deferred Success” with my blog efforts of keeping at least one post per day, i thought i’d share with you the world gone mad.
Its a fun place to live in the modern day, when AD (Short for : Anno Domini Nostri Jesu Christi) wants to be changed to C.E. for Common Era to avoid religious overtones with the date. Or possibly you’re a feminist and want Women to be spelt Womyn to distance it from Men… dispite the “men” part of women actaully refering to human [ Derivation ] or how about something more Southern, security staff in the land of Oz were banned from using “Mate” to address members

Boosh-Layout Magic

Sunday, November 20th, 2005

Hey hey hey, me and ben were talking about making our next site (modeling agency one) able to change its layout based on the size of the users screen resolution. Ie, small res = layout with main pic and one sidebar, larger screens can have two sidebars (one on each side) and HUGE resolutions can have multiple main pics etc. So today, ben shows me an awsome demonstration of this principle, and its simple, just ahve multiple CSS styles which get switched about by resize events in javascript. One swift recode of the CSS and boosh, ive got it running on my site.

Hyper Geek Moment

Sunday, November 20th, 2005

Ok, this story isnt for the non-geek, so if you’re not interested in what Googles been doing buying up Dark Fiber for, or the reason google has 64 Datacenters and will increase it to 300+ over the next year then dont read on. :)
Linked is a story which is very interesting. If you didnt know Google has been buying up all the Dark Fiber from around the world, dark fiber is the fiber in the bundles which is laid out in the world but hasnt been lit up for data transfer, it was placed at the same time as its far cheaper than trying to upgrade 1,500 km of cable. However, Google started buying it all

Slow Blogging Day

Saturday, November 19th, 2005

Hey, No blogs of crazyness today, been very busy working with ben on new design drafts for Face Model Managment, a prospective client of Web Dragon. Ive been designing a logo for them to use for the past few hours, and i’ve got a few that i quite like. I’m not sure if i should show you them on here yet, the copyright is mine, but its still a bit of a grey area for draft works.
We have a good idea for the basic site layouts etc and we’re basically waiting for me to finish my logo :) but me and ben have been working on managment systems in order to make sure

CornStarch + Water + geeks = Coolness

Friday, November 18th, 2005

Check this out, its cornstarch and water, which is REALLY weird stuff anyway, works like a liquid till u apply force then it becomes a semisolid. But this is a vibrated mixture and it does really really weird stuff. Its all fairly similar till u get to near the end where Fingers start apearing and then it gets kinda scarey. Goddam cool for halloween or crazy movie experiments.

Zubbles

Friday, November 18th, 2005

Its finally here, its beautiful, its stupendous, its gonna be alot of money for its inventors. Colour bubbles, they look fantastic, apart from the chemical burns, the destroyed kitchens and acid eaten clothes that have been experience in their development, they’ve finally perfected it. 11 years work, and an ALMOST finished prototype which when demonstrated to the children and parents outside using a large bubble machine made some parents teary eyes, and children were loving it. At least till they realised that the colours, while being washable, were still as bright on clothes, skins, concrete, cars, cats, food, ants, trees and more or less anything they burst over.

$100 Laptop

Thursday, November 17th, 2005

Third world countries will soon be getting their hands on a fantastic new teaching device. The MIT labs have released a prototype of their Sub-$100 laptop for use in third world countries. Boasting a 500mhz processor, flash hard drive and power by wind up. Its a brilliant idea. Networking via a Mesh network over USB to other laptops, rugged rubber design and the AC power cord is also used as a carry strap.
This is the prototype design revealed by the UN and will be initialially released to 6 countries, with more to follow after 6 months. Nicknamed the green machine, it can be used as a normal computer, or an e-book. A child can
